What Am I Up To next?

In writing my debut novel, The Other Side of Moonlight, my process goes something like this.

Step 1: Invoke the spirit of my ancestors, who this story is really about, and hope they will speak to me through time. 

Step 2:  Weave in threads of history, imagination. action and a little fantasy to create a tapestry of historical women's fiction with a time travel twist. 

Step 3: Apply some of my favorite writing techniques used by my favorite authors -- from Roberston Davies and Tom Robbins to Casey McQuiston to Emily Henry, and rewrite a single paragraph about 20 times.

Step 4: Fact check my historical details and timelines.

Step 5: Publish it!
